Withdrawing cash from an ATM is part of everyday life for many people. Since the first ATM in Germany was introduced by the Kreissparkasse Tübingen in 1968, ATMs have been used worldwide.
Inside the machine, several cash cassettes store the banknotes. During a withdrawal, the notes are picked and transported to the dispensing slot via transport mechanisms. Sensors monitor the process, count the banknotes, and detect if notes are sticking together.
A key factor is the fill level of the cassettes. The Metallux linear position sensor MTP-L precisely measures the height of the banknotes. When a low level is reached, a refill signal is triggered in time – ensuring reliable and uninterrupted cash dispensing.
