Trucks and buses use air brake systems instead of hydraulic systems like those found in passenger cars. The required compressed air is generated by a compressor during operation and maintained within the optimal pressure range by a regulator.
During braking, the compressed air actuates the brake cylinders, which generate the mechanical braking force. An important safety feature: the parking brake can only be released when sufficient pressure is available in the system – preventing unintended vehicle movement.
Metallux pressure sensors CPS 1184 and CPS 1184 Z are ideal for use in air brake systems. They offer high media resistance, long-term stability, and precise measurement results – even under demanding conditions.
